The Mount Laurel Historical Society is a group of people from the local area who are interested in preserving and protecting our past.
We are currently working on gathering and compiling information on the township's past and would appreciate any family histories or local facts that you would like to share with us.
Meetings are held at Farmer's Hall on the second Tuesday of each month from September through June, at 7:30pm. We are also open the fourth Sunday of each month from 1:00-4:00pm.
Farmer's Hall is located at the intersection of Moorestown-Mt. Laurel Road and Hainesport-Mt. Laurel Road, across from the Friends Meeting.
The Historical Society was formed in 1972 to save Farmer's Hall from demolition. It had previously served as the Town Hall, and was in use until 1969, when the new Municipal Building was constructed.
This group of interested local residents, headed by the late Rena Hallett, persuaded the Township to save the building. These dedicated individuals worked tirelessly to paint and repair the building for use as a meeting place, and eventually as a museum of local history.
Anyone with information or local items from your attic to share, or a desire to join us, please contact Jeff Shapiro at (856) 296-5076.
